Fresh Cut Fridays

It’s Friday, and that means one thing, time for a fresh haircut. Today, a lot of people are bringing back classic cuts like the high top fade, or an undercut. Let’s take a look at the top 5 cuts of the 90’s. These are the best cuts of our youth and some still exist today.

5. The Caesar

This was my personal favorite of the 90’s. This was made popular by super famous actor George Clooney during his ER days. It was simple, yet effective. A little trim on the side, long up top. Just comb the top part down on your forehead and you were good to go. Little to no maintenance was needed to rock the fuck out of this cut.

4. The Sean Hunter

The poster boy of the 90’s cuts, Sean Hunter got more ass than a toilet seat with this cut. Just look at that lettuce, dude’s would kill for hair like that. This was a tough style to rock because you needed time and patience. Also, having a dad that would actually let your hair get that long was tough. As soon as my hair went over my ear my dad took me to Ish off of Hoosick street for that Ish cut. I was stuck with the Caesar, the Sean Hunter was unobtainable for me back then. But, if you were lucky enough to have this cut and style, your feet must have been killing you from all the slow dances you had to do at the dance. Ladies LOVED the Sean hunter.

3. Frosted Tips

This cut was made popular by guys like Justin Timberlake during his N’SYNC days and many other stars from the 90’s. Every dude wanted frosted tips, and every dad questioned why didn’t they just have a daughter instead of dealing with a son with frosted tips. Thankfully, my dad told me he would disown me if I showed up with these. These were forbidden from my house, and I hated my dad for like 2 years because of that. Bro, I just wanted to be popular ok? Let me live my life, but looking back I was lucky my dad wouldn’t let me get frosted tips. Good looks Relvis.

2. The flip in the front

This cut has stood the test of time. Stars like Ellen DeGeneres, pictured above, to this day still wear the flip in the front. This is what I upgraded to after the Caesar. There was nothing better than waking up an hour before you had to go to school in order to put a half a pound of gel in your hair. I had my flip so crispy it could have withstood hurricane like winds. Nothing was bringing my flip down, not even haters.

1.The Bowl Cut

This was the GOAT of the 90’s cuts. Thankfully, I was too busy with the Caesar to get this, but a lot of people used to rock this cut. Sure, you looked like a mushroom or even a penis, but this cut was everything to people. Having the sides and back of your hair shaved and then having the rest of your hair elegantly lay on the top of your head was what got the ladies attention. I’m convinced barbers started this movement to maximize their profits while minimizing their work. This cut had to have only taken like 5 minutes. I see you barbers, I see you. Let’s take a look at every black dudes reaction to a white dude with a bowl cut…

PS. For a real cut in today’s world go see my man Zach Ramsey. He can cut any style you need. He’s a master with all things barbering. Here is his Twitter and Instagram accounts so you can set something up.
